European Campaign to Promote Foster Care: Palermo
Within the EPIC project, partners are encouraged to launch a campaign to promote foster care as an alternative form of integration and care for unaccompanied migrant children. The Palermo City Council , in Italy, created a poster that will be publicly displayed to encourage people to volunteer as foster families. The concept behind the campaign revolves around the idea that everyone can make a difference, helping to break down the walls of individualism in favor of being a community. Foster care is in fact a form of social parenting. Taking care of an unaccompanied foreign minor means taking care of the whole community. The minors of today will be the adults of tomorrow, and social growth depends on the full realisation of their dreams and expectations. The campaign is a call to action for those who cultivate the desire to be present, to play a crucial role in the community.
