Migration flows, which have increased dramatically in recent years, have brought to Europe adult men and women and many minors unaccompanied by their families and without a legal guardian. The Booklet is intended to be a tool to share experiences, methodologies, and the EPIC partners' most significant actions. Such synergic work permitted the best results in foster care and reception of Unaccompanied Migrant Children. Building on the excellent work done so far by the alternative care systems, the EPIC project contributed to improving their effectiveness and quality through the following activities:
Field visits to partner countries to exchange good practices and methodologies.
Training for professionals in the field of reception, for families and unaccompanied minors.
Awareness-raising of families and local communities to promote foster care as a form of care.
Involvement of the private sector to foster training and employment opportunities for unaccompanied minors/young.
